A bad day and bad luck

Picture this, you have been working non stop for the pass few weeks and finally managed to squeeze in just a couple of hours to fish.  As you arrived at the fishing spot and just as you finished your preparation, it starting raining like there’s no tomorrow, totally ruining the day. An that’s what happened to us. Since we were already there, me, Steven and Clevin decided to wait and pray for best.

Miracle Happened!

Then almost an hour later, miracle happened and our prayer was answered. The sky really cleared up at exactly 6pm with just enough time for the final hour the feeding time. With that in mind, we instantly throttled towards the potential spot, putting all our faith into one potential spot as there was no longer time for us to explore furthermore.

The weather was really on our side now, with the rain subsided and the wind calmed, the pond became a crystal clear and the structures were clearly visible. We could easily spot whether there’s fish or not. With that added advantage, we quickly found ourselves some schools of peacock bass and tomans and casted towards them. Unfortunately, there were no taker, it seemed like none of them were in the mood to feed.

FINALLY!

We continued to cast and check every possible spot with fish hoping to at least get one, but it was all in vain. As we almost gave up all our hope, Steven persisted and casted a few feet from the small island. Without waiting for long, he started fast stripping and WHAM, a big take from just underneath the surface and a decent green tail flipped that broke the surface tension of the water. Instinctively the fish dove into the wooden structure trying to break it off, almost bending Steven’s 6wt Vision Eka rod into ‘C’ shape. At that moment, if we gave the fish anymore time and line into the structures, that’s it, it would have been a waste of the chance given to us.

Clevin immediately rammed the boat backwards while making sure it didn’t hinder or strain the leader too much and Steven skillfully controlling the fish. With both of them working together in a harmonious synchrony, they managed to drag the fish out from the structure and Steven continued to fight the fish in the open water. In just a couple of minutes, they successfully landed the fish and what followed was the roar of victory.

Guessed what, a short while after the catch, the rain started to drizzle again, it was as if the rain was holding off till Steven caught his trophy. Without stalling, they quickly measured the fish, released it safely and sped off back to the land. The rain had been drizzling and just as we finished loading everything to the car, the rain started bucketing down. We were astonished and joked about how each one of us was the one controlling the weather but we all agreed that it was simply miraculous how things turned out and glad that it happened that way.

Well as for me, I was not as lucky as Steven but in the end I was still given a chance to land this little bugger. Might have been a little overkill with the Vision wt6 XO Graphene for the size, at least I didn’t kumpau despite the hard condition! Making it even more worthwhile.
